What does it mean to be a Christian?
Being a Christian is NOT about being born in America (i.e., you are not a Christian by default). Becoming a Christian is NOT obtained by going to church. In fact, there are lots of people that have gone to church that would not be considered Christians according to Jesus or the Bible.
At the most basic level, being a Christian means having a relationship with Jesus Christ and following what he says. According to the Bible, in order to become a Christian a person must realize that s/he is a sinner who is separated from God and
1. Repent for their sin. Repentance is recognizing and admitting your sinfulness to God and being willing to turn from sinful beliefs and behaviors.
2. Have faith in Jesus Christ. Having faith in Jesus simply means believing that God sent Jesus to this world to die for your sins and that he came back to life.
